Ahead of your Stay

When making your reservation at The Nicholas, prepare for a boutique, historic, and elevated experience. In anticipation of your visit, let us help answer any questions you might have about your upcoming visit with us in Charleston.

Check-in is at 3pm.

Check-out is at 11am.

Our Epicurean Grab+Go breakfast is served daily from 7am – 10am in our first floor dining area and includes artisan breakfast sandwiches, steel cut oats, yogurt parfaits, and iced coffees. Guests are invited to enjoy   self-serve espresso coffee machine.

We do not serve lunch or dinner, but there are dozens of incredible restaurants within a short walk of the hotel.

We do not provide room service at the hotel.

We are able to accommodate small meetings and groups of up to 20 people at the hotel when making a full buy-out of the property. The Nicholas is pleased to offer guests use of formal boardroom and conference space through our partner State & Broad CoWork + Space located just minutes away at a reduced rate. State & Broad is a 10-minute walk from The Nicholas.

We do not have a fitness center at the hotel. We do offer numerous running, walking, and biking  route recommendations.

The Nicholas offers off-street, on-site parking on a first come first serve basis.

Lower King Street is an approximate 4 minute walk from the hotel.

The airport is approximately 12 miles from the hotel. During rush hour, it can take as long as 30 minutes to get to and from the airport, so please plan accordingly.

We do not have an airport shuttle service. However, taxi service, rental cars, and Uber/Lyft are readily available near baggage claim.

Yes! Folly Beach, Sullivan’s Island, and Isle of Palms are all approximately 10-12 miles from Downtown. Travel time varies from 15-30 minutes depending upon traffic.

The Nicholas is a technology-forward property and provides all guests with electronic access to their room prior to arrival. Regardless of your late arrival time, you will be able to access your room or suite.

We do not have rollaway beds.

We offer complimentary Wi-Fi for all of our guests. A code will be provided to you prior to arrival.

The Nicholas is entirely smoke-free. Significant fines will be imposed if evidence of smoking is discovered.

Constructed in 1798, The Nicholas is an old Charleston single home that was converted into a boutique hotel in 1984, and unfortunately does not have an elevator.

Regretfully, we do not have handicap accessible rooms.

We are not a pet-friendly hotel, but we can recommend several excellent “animal hotels” for your furry family member. We do, of course, welcome ADA certified service animals at no charge. A fee may be imposed for damage to guest rooms by any pet or service animal.

You will get the best, guaranteed rate at our hotel by booking directly on our website.

We accept major credit cards including American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa.

We do have a luxurious pool available for us to all guests between the hours of 6am-11pm.

Cancellations must be made at least 5 days prior to your day of arrival. Guests who do not cancel within this time will be charged for a one-night stay including tax.

In cases where reservations have been made via an external booking platform, the cancellation policy noted at booking will stand.

However, upon cancellation, any and all transaction fees (including associated credit card processing fees) will be deducted from the payment refund.

Yes, every room has a hair dryer.

We provide Beekman 1802 shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and shower gel in every guest room.

Yes, we provide daily housekeeping service upon request.

We do not provide turndown service.

A CVS Pharmacy is located approximately 2 blocks from The Nicholas.

All guest rooms and suites are equipped with mini-fridges.
